This is a complete entry route into the beauty industry for learners who want more than treatment steps. You will build practical ability alongside consultation, hygiene, client care, professional behaviour and the commercial standards expected in a working salon.
How the course works
Your main learning day is Sunday from 10am to 6pm. During the 18-week course, you will also attend two planned four-hour supervised salon shifts, using your developing skills in a real working salon.
Who it is for
School leavers, career changers and adults who learn best by doing. No previous beauty qualification is required. You do need to be ready to attend consistently, practise between sessions, work with clients, accept feedback and complete assessment evidence.

Assessment

This is a practical, evidence-based qualification. Assessment happens throughout the programme rather than through one final written exam.

Consultations, treatment records, work products and photographs help show consistent competence.
Knowledge evidence
Questions and professional discussions confirm that you understand the reasons behind your practice.
Portfolio support
You are guided to organise the evidence required for each unit and the complete award.
Individual SVQ units
Study one recognised unit at a time.
You do not have to complete the full SVQ to gain a recognised unit. Each individual-unit course is delivered over a minimum 6–8 week period, with theory, practical teaching, supported practice and assessment evidence.
